The Vanishing Department

This was my fic for hd_erised, and it was the most invigorating, fun writing experience I've had in a long time. That plus the quality of every other erised fic made this fest such a delight! I've been thrilled beyond measure that other people seem to have enjoyed reading it half as much as I enjoyed writing it. My unending thanks to everyone who commented, messaged, recced and discussed. You've all really made my holiday season, and on into January, and I can't thank you enough.

Particular thanks go to disapparater for being a patient, patient beta who handled every panicked 2am inquiry with thoughtfulness and aplomb. Also to firethesound and sophie_french for excitement, encouragement, and suggestions at all the right moments, and for thinking this madness was a good iea worth doing, and to everyone in the hd_writers comm, especially the chatzy room, for encouragement and Strict Discipling. To the hd_erised mods for being patient and kind and for running such a phenomenal fest. And, of course, always, to birdsofshore, for a "content I would love" list that sent my imagination running wild, for comments that left me with the biggest, goofiest grins - for generally being the best giftee a person could ask for. (Which really just means we should all make her more things, doesn't it?)

Although, I haven't been there in a while but I do have to say that most of my long fics were written whilst I was on chatzy...the timed writing sessions are super inspiring. Along w/ the company.

You know, sometimes I go in there when I'm not writing, but doing other types of work? Like this week I was doing powerpoint slides in there. Sometimes I've even done....recs!! So you know, as long as you're getting productive work done, you can totally sneak by. Not to mention that reccing totally is a form of writing!
