Summer is road trip season! For me, at least. When spending 10+ hours in the car, podfic is essential. This one is
excellent.
Turn is completely engaging. The world
saras_girl builds is full of incredible depth and detail. Harry and Draco are totally charming, full of awkward fumbling and forging ahead (Harry) and dry, snarky affection (Draco). Their home, their pet, their job, their friends...all of it pops off the page and feels so real. This story also does a fantastic job of running the emotional gamut. It's funny, it's sweet, it's bittersweet, it's sad, it's hopeful, it's hot - all right there in 307k wonderful words.
mab's reading of Turn captures absolutely all of that. Her Harry has the perfect combination of uncertainty and awareness, her Draco is as sly and witty as you could ever want even as he's settled into the routine of a comfortable life with Harry (for now...!). The OCs take on voices of their own that totally matched my imagining of them. The emotional range is there, and the pace and cadence of Mab's reading is absolute perfection.
The audio quality is also really, really great. There's no static, no feedback, no echo. It's really crisp and easy to hear. A few of the chapters were remastered for audio quality and it's really paid off with a professional-level recording.
So! If, like me, you're going to be putting in some hours in the car this summer - or doing chores around the house, or looking to curl up with a glass of wine and let someone read to you - this story and reading are not to be missed, and you should absolutely
check it out!.
